It's Tuesday and you know what that means.
As part of our ongoing sessions and planning for the future we thought now would be a great time to start a blog to detail all the fun things happening in Lucid Liars.
The diary for the year is slowly filling up. For a small indie band from Inverness we have lots of big plans. Our next show is shaping up to be a change in mentality for us - we're bringing Hard Times in it's entirety to Hidden Dundee, and hoping to up our game in terms of live sound and visuals. Can't wait to share this with everyone.
We've been recording demos over the last few months, some exciting titles such as “Thing in Bminor”, “Holding On”, “Mega Eff” and other such nonsense placeholders. Usually we'll bounce ideas back and forth to each other and aim to whittle them down to a song in the jam room.
I'd say we’ve made good progress with a “guide” track, something that we hope will set the pace for what we want to do going forward. We've actually played it live a few times - “Paper Tiger” - to guage reactions, and the vibe definitely seems to be connecting with everyone. It features piano looping, upbeat rhythms and an all out brass outro. Can't wait to get this one committed to memory as I'm sure it'll be an important part of
We've had some issues with our recording den and unfortunately it's now water damaged. RIP to a real one. We're hoping to bring our rhythms to some new jam rooms in Inverness and Nairn, depending on availability for everyone. The ride never ends as they say.
The band group chat has been it's usual nonsense of wrestling banter and shitposting, good to see everyone's motivated!

Pedestrian Verse by Frightened Rabbit - this is an album I always end up coming back to, in terms of composition and laying out of an album to elevate it from a collection of songs, I feel this album is basically perfect. RIP Scott.
Violence by Editors - I've been exploring how other indie rock bands have drifted further in to electronic elements while maintaining a certain vibe, and think that this album by Editors hits the perfect balance.
IT'S THE LONG GOODBYE by Twilight Sad - a more recent album, I'm always excited by a new release from Twilight Sad. I've been following them since 2008 or so and I'm always blown away by how they manage to constantly evolve while remaining emotionally honest in their music. It's been on repeat for a while now and don't expect it to leave the rotation any time soon.
Waste (Live) by Familiar Enemies - a band from our town, I've recently been following these guys and was lucky to catch them at a show a few months back. Definitely one of the bands to keep an eye on, from their social media they're recording at IMOUT Studios with Iain McLaughlin, so you know Iain's going to get the best out of them. Hoping their studio work lives up to the potential I've seen in them live!
